Sweet Home School District – The Immediate and Tangible Impact of a My Stuff Bag

Published On: June 5, 2025

To some, a My Stuff Bag may seem like just a duffel of items, but to a lonely distraught child entering foster care or crisis shelters with nothing, the impact of the Bag is beyond measure. The touching testimonial letters we receive from our Partner Agencies caring for the children help display the profound effect of the Bag on these kids. Just last month, Sweet Home School District in Oregon shared how items from the Bag comforted a homeless child through a very turbulent moment:

“I had the opportunity to hand a Bag out to a 10-year-old child who was having a severe asthma attack and being life-flighted to a larger city hospital. She is one of our homeless children and she doesn’t have much for possessions. Her single mom is severely disabled and can’t drive or be with her during this situation. She was terrified at having to go by helicopter to a larger city hospital all by herself. She was thrilled that she was given that Bag and took out the blanket immediately for comfort.”

Not only does the Bag have a positive effect on the child recipient, but the Bag benefits the social workers and caregivers at these agencies. It allows them to feel empowered, giving them a way to tangibly support the child.

“There are situations where we may not see the child for a couple of days or where we never see the child again. The agency workers were very enthusiastic to be able to offer kids facing trauma something they could hold onto. We can just literally grab them off the shelves instead of trying to put something together, immediately putting the Bag into the hands of the child.”

Thanks to your support, we can continue to support these Agencies and the children they serve through the gift of a My Stuff Bag.
