The Far-Reaching Impact of a My Stuff Bag- Crime Survivors Inc.
At My Stuff Bags Foundation, we know that sometimes the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. A recent story shared by our Partner Agency, Crime Survivors Inc. in Irvine, CA, is a powerful example of how a My Stuff Bag can provide not just comfort but also hope for vulnerable children in the midst of unimaginable trauma.
In their report from June of this year, Crime Survivors Inc. shared a heartbreaking case involving a family of six children, one of whom had been a victim of abuse. As is often the case in such situations, the children were removed from their home and placed into child services, awaiting placement with a relative.
When Crime Survivors Inc. provided My Stuff Bags to all six children, the impact was immediate and profound. The simple act of receiving a My Stuff Bag—a duffel bag filled with essentials like toiletries, hygiene items, diapers, stuffed animals, toys, and other comfort items—restored a sense of normalcy and innocence, even if just for a moment.
As our Partner Agency shared, “It was as if [receiving the Bag] was all that mattered for a short moment, and the trauma was not the thought… They were able to be children together with an innocence that all children should have.”
